A Blog Written By Roozbeh Mirebrahimi
These days I am in Canada to experience the Women’s World Cup firsthand and will write about it in the near future. This is my third Women’s World Cup that I am following closely and my first time watching several matches in the stadium. Mostly I will be at the Olympic Stadium in Montreal and then an additional match in Ottawa.
Soccer is a big part of my life, both playing and watching. Sometimes I write about soccer, too. Recently I am much more involved with this topic as I am a part of a team that’s running the Shirzanan Global project. It’s a media project focusing on empowering Muslim women through sport and media. I’m also involved with another magazine that focuses only on soccer and its link to other social, cultural, economic, etc. issues in the world, especially in Iran where soccer is a significant part of daily life.
The Women’s World Cup is a great opportunity to enrich public awareness about women’s issues and inform about a lot of inequality that is still in the world of sports. Let’s not forget to explore what is going on right now in Canada!
